Live Broadcast Equipment

Farmington High School

Farmington High School Media teacher Mark Toutge was awarded $750 to aid in the creation of a new live broadcasting program at FHS. This new program allows students to reach the community through the live broadcast of events such as sporting events, concerts, along with various other District and community events.  He purcahsed four zoom controllers to help students to control their camera movements while video taping an event.

My job was camera one. I had to have the wide shot when filming our varsity basketball games.  The Pro Zoom 1 helped me out a bunch!  Any time the director would tell me to zoom in on something or to go wider, the Pro Zoom 1 allowed me to keep the shot nice and steady!  The Pro Zoom 1 is a great product to use when you’re told to zoom in/out and you need to keep it steady.

I was camera operator 2 and my job was to follow up close on somebody when they scored. I used the Pro Zoom 1 and it helped me to zoom in and find the player quickly.   It made it really easy because all I had to do was press 2 buttons that either made it zoom in or zoom out.  There was also a button on the device that made it focus and refocus and that was very helpful. I think the Pro Zoom 1 will help future people in this class.

I would like to thank the Farmington Education Foundation for their gift of purchasing 4 of the Pro Zoom 1 controllers. Whenever we produce live events such as concerts and athletic events, our students are very excited to use the Pro Zoom controllers because they make the video look a whole lot better! We have also used the controllers for graduation and it really helps give us a “network look”! We look forward to using these Pro Zoom 1 controllers for many years to come! ~Mark Toutge, Radio & Television Broadcasting Teacher Executive Producer, Tiger News Executive Producer, TSEN Tiger Sports & Events Network
