Ozobots

An Ozobot is a little toy robot that blends the physical and digital worlds — and teaches kids programming. It is very basic programming, as you simply train the robots to follow patterns on the surfaces that they roll over. They look a little like Pac-Man ghosts, with domes for heads. Ozobot can identify lines, colors, and codes on both digital surfaces, such as an iPad, and physical surfaces, such as paper.
"Because our students had distance learning in the spring and now again this fall, I was just able to introduce the Ozobots to the 4th and 5th graders last week and they LOVED coding with them. They were literally jumping up and down when they saw the robots on the tables ready to be programmed. In the first lesson, they learned how to create code sequences with markers so the robots would follow a specific pathway. And for their distance learning project, they will create a maze with cardboard, tubes, legos, etc so when they return to school they will learn how to program their Ozobots with the Ozobot app on their iPad to follow the pathways on their maze."

The Ozobots were a great addition to our STEM curriculum, the kids are really engaged and motivated to learn more about robotics using the Ozobots. The Farmington Area Education Foundation (FAEF) grant has taken learning to the next level for our students, we are all very grateful for your support!
