Adaptive Swing Set
Meadowview Elementary School
After this special team effort by Mrs. Gibart’s 3rd grade class and a group of our Meadowview staff, combined with a generous grant from the Farmington Area Education Foundation, we were able to install a brand new adaptive swing on the big playground this week! Thank you 3rd graders for submitting your special request to add more inclusive play options to the main playground.
Expanding our adaptive play options will provide greater access to movement, friendship, and belonging for all students on all MVE playgrounds for years to come!
Tiano, an amazing third grader, uses a wheelchair and could not safely access the swings his classmates enjoy daily. So, Tiano wrote a heartfelt letter to Principal Bican, complete with colorful drawings and signed by all his classmates, asking for a swing he could use too. His request reflects not only his personal wish to play alongside his friends, but also his peers deep sense of empathy and inclusion.
