Outdoor Learning Space
Farmington High School
Farmington High School Biology teacher Zach Howard purchased four canoes, paddles, and some life jackets to be used in creating an outdoor learning space at FHS. This project allows students, along with countless others to supplement their classroom lessons with experiences in the field.
One of the best parts of having the canoes is being able to access the pond and expand the areas of studying it. The students really enjoy anytime the canoes are incorporated into the lesson plan for the day. The canoes have also been used by the FHS Outdoors Club to get students outside experiencing nature and a recreation activity they may not have the opportunity to do on their own.
